Britain: 12 injured in a train collision in a tunnel in Salisbury

At least 12 passengers were injured when two trains collided near Salisbury in the south of England on Sunday night.

The British Transport Police confirmed, however, that there are no dead from the collision that occurred in the Fiserton tunnel around 7 local time.

Unconfirmed information states that one of the train drivers was trapped in his wagon.

According to the official information from the railway service, the last train wagon en route from Portsmouth to Bristol derailed when it collided with an object coming out of the tunnel just before the Salisbury station.

The derailment destroyed the signage in the area, resulting in a train from London to Honiton that collided with the last wagons of the first train.

A single-train car derailed and was reportedly overturned by the collision, but all occupants were released by emergency services rushing to the scene.

Local fire services declared a "serious incident" with 50 rescuers rushing to help.
