The Omicron variant of Covid-19 spreads over the age of 50, but the data do not show that further restrictions are needed because older people have already received large doses of booster vaccines, British Education Minister Nadim Zahawi said today.
"We are seeing an outbreak of the infection in people over the age of 50," he told the BBC. "They are vaccinated with a booster dose - 90% of people over the age of 50 are vaccinated with a booster dose."
He said that the government will proceed the next day, Wednesday, to assess the situation in England. "At the moment there is nothing in the data that makes me believe that we need to go further," he added.
