The District Court of Paphos imposed a 7-month prison sentence on a 50-year-old man who cheated elderly women.
According to the Paphos police director, Nikos Tsapi, the 50-year-old, who was in custody until today, was presented again at the Paphos District Court, which today imposed a 7-month prison sentence on him for the crime of securing money by false pretenses.
According to the Police, the person in question engaged the Police many times with crimes of a similar nature with action in all the provinces and apparently under various false pretenses extracted sums of money mainly from elderly persons.
In 2022 the 50-year-old was sentenced to prison and was released around the end of November 2022.
The 50-year-old, originally from Limassol, was wanted since January 16, 2023, in connection with an investigation into obtaining money by false pretenses, an offense committed on January 2, 2023 in Paphos. He was located and arrested on the outstanding warrant against him.
According to the incident, an 83-year-old resident of a village in the district of Paphos reported to the Stroubiou police station that on January 2 at around 13:30 p.m. a stranger visited her at her residence, who gave her some details of his name and asked her to borrow 50 euros in order, as he mentioned, to buy medicine. The 83-year-old took pity on him and gave them to him.
During the investigation of the case, it became clear that this is the 50-year-old from Limassol, while according to the Police, the 50-year-old, known as Kyriakos, has occupied her too many times with cases of a similar nature.
