From today, March 1, the normal excise tax rates that were in effect on March 7, 2022 on fuel prices will return.
Now consumers are asked to pay about 7 cents more for both motor and heating fuel.
Already on the first morning, the president of the Cyprus consumer association, Marios Drousiotis, heard the first strong complaints from consumers, who are forced to reach deeper into their pockets to be able to supply their vehicles with fuel.
As he mentioned on the "Morning Itinerary" radio show, Mr. Drousiotis understands the indignation of consumers due to the more general punctuality that also plagues the local economy, stressing that the relevant bill was delayed in being submitted to the Parliament.
For her part, the president of the Finance Committee, Christianna Erotokritou, pointed out that tomorrow Thursday at 3 pm an extraordinary session will be held in the Parliament to approve the bill, which will extend the reduced tax on fuel.
