EAC: There are reductions in the bills

A significant reduction of 35% is the fuel cost of EAC power generation, which is expressed, however, with final reductions of 8% in the EAC household bills, after the changes that apply this year compared to last year the price per kilowatt hour.

In relation to fuel costs, the charge per kilowatt hour has been reduced from 5,02 cents per kilowatt hour in the previous two months to 3,43 cents. So a house with a bi-monthly average consumption of 1.000 kilowatt hours paid an additional € 50,20 for fuel costs in the previous two months, will pay a surcharge of € 30,43 this month.

In the final bill, taking into account all the factors that compile it (electricity, transport, ancillary, supply, metering, water, RES, VAT), based on the changes made in the calculation of cost per kilowatt hour this year, compared to last year and are valid from in January a household with a consumption of 1.000 kilowatt hours in the previous bill paid € 233,07 while for this two months it will pay € 214,74.

It should be noted that the significant reduction in fuel costs, refers to a large extent to the previous reduction of international fuel prices, since they are always transferred with some delay to the EAC accounts, due to the fact that stock is maintained.

Also, an important factor that removed costs from the electricity bills, is the decision of CERA with which it obliged the EAC not to calculate in the bills from 2019, the additional costs that arise due to the long delay in unit 3 of Vasilikos. Unit 3 burns fuel oil and the fact that it has been idle for a long time since it was not repaired in time, leads to the use of expensive diesel. With the new regulations, the additional costs are now borne by the EAC itself and this improves fuel costs for consumers.

At the same time, the pricing for household consumers has changed, with significant cost redistributions and with a final result and a slight increase (from 13,08 to 13,13 cents per kilowatt hour). It is striking that in the internal structure of the cost per kilowatt hour, the cost of electricity has increased (from 9,23 cents last year to 9,46 cents this year) while the network cost has decreased (from 3,21 cents to 3 cents per kilowatt hour) . Also increase from 0,64 cents to 0,67 cents per kilowatt hour the cost of ancillary services, ie for network security, backup electricity, etc.
