Another 32 respirators in Cyprus - OKYPY ready for the worst case scenario

In mid-January, Cyprus will receive another 32 respirators from abroad, which will further enhance the equipment of public hospitals, the spokesman of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY), Charalambos Charilaou, told KYPE. at all times ready and prepared for the worst case scenario.

As reported by the Cyprus News Agency, OKYPY proceeded with various actions since the summer, to deal with a new wave of pandemics, noting that, among other things, it ordered and is expected in 32 days XNUMX respirators, while the arrival of three other intensivists from Greece is expected in the same period. .

According to the OKYPY spokesman, the Organization has hired 62 new nurses to strengthen the existing staff, noting that it has hired six intensivists, three of whom have already taken office, while the other three are expected in January.

It is noted that since last Monday and in a period of one week, the number of cases has exceeded 26 thousand, while at the same time the hospitalizations for the second consecutive twenty-four hours remained over two hundred, while the seriously ill are constantly over eighty.

Asked if the Organization has prepared for the worst case scenario, Mr. Charilaou said that "we are always prepared for the worst", noting that "there is a plan, which is in full swing".

"Regarding the management of the pandemic," he said, "there is an operational plan from OKYPY, which is in full swing and has been tested in previous pandemic waves, with excellent results."

He added that "the situation is assessed daily and actions are taken where and where they should be taken."

In addition, he said that their focus is currently on patients in Intensive Care Units and patients in Intensive Care Units, noting that one in two patients is treated in either Intensive Care or Intensive Care Unit. talking about a very high percentage.

Mr. Charilaou stressed that 80% to 85% of patients are people without a history of vaccination, to add that ».
