8 deaths and 3.353 cases were announced in the last week in Cyprus

Eight deaths and 3.353 new cases COVID-19 were announced by the Ministry of Health on Friday. The cases concern the week of January 6-12, 2023.

According to the competent Ministry, a total of 65.398 diagnostic tests were carried out and the positivity rate for all tests is 5,13%.

The deaths recorded concern a woman, aged 71, who died on 06/01/2023, a man, aged 77, who died on 07/01/2023, a man, aged 60, who died on 08/01 /2023, to a woman, aged 83, who died on 10/01/2023, to a man, aged 62, who died on 10/01/2023, to a man, aged 76, who died on 11/01/2023 , in a woman, aged 76, who died on 12/01/2023 and in a woman, aged 93, who died on 13/01/2023.

The total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 1.270.

The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic reached 638.062.

Besides, 85 patients COVID-19 are being treated at OKYpY hospitals, of which 14 are in a serious condition. Specifically, seven people are intubated, while another seven are hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In the meantime, two patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be intubated due to COVID in the Intensive Care Unit.

From the 2.112 molecular tests (PCR) there were 231 positive cases, with a positivity rate of 10,94%.

In addition, 63.286 rapid antigen detection tests (Rapid Test) were performed, from which 3.122 positive cases emerged, with a positivity rate of 4,93%.

On a private initiative, 1.495 molecular tests were performed and 105 positive cases were detected, with a rate of 7,02%, while 40.974 rapid antigen detection tests were performed and 2.846 positive cases were detected, with a positivity rate of 6,95%.

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 22.312 rapid antigen detection tests were performed and 276 positive cases were identified.

At the sampling points, 15.704 rapid detection tests were performed and 206 positive cases were identified, with a positivity rate of 1,31%.

In the National Guard, 75 rapid antigen detection tests were performed, however, no positive cases were detected, while in nursing homes, 4.807 rapid antigen detection tests were performed and 67 positive cases were detected, with a positivity rate of 1,39%.

In addition, 1.726 rapid antigen detection tests were performed in the closed structures and 3 new cases were identified, with a positivity rate of 0,17%.
