Postponement in the trial of the Tremithousa husband killer – His lawyers have covid

An adjournment was requested by the defense on Thursday in the case of the husband killer in Tremithousa. As mentioned in the Court, the two defense lawyers of the 74-year-old who are handling the case, with a 75-year-old victim from Britain, declared that they are sick with COVID-19.

For the reasons cited by the defense attorneys Nicoleta Charalambidou and Ritsa Pekri, the representative of the prosecuting authority, Attorney for the Republic Andreas Chatzikyrou, did not object.

The Court then fixed the case for January 9, 2023 and ordered that the accused remain in custody.

At the next hearing, new prosecution witnesses are expected to be presented to make a trial within a trial.

Community leader Tremithousas and owner of the residence where the British couple lived, Christophis Petrou, two police officers who were in charge of guarding the body of the 75-year-old woman, and another witness have already testified, however the defense lawyers of the 74-year-old objected to part of his testimony, the which is expected to be examined at the next hearing.

Also in the trial of the Tremithousa spouse killer, the representative of the prosecution said that it is not a fact that there was an agreement between the 74-year-old and his wife to kill her. For its part, the defense insists that the 75-year-old's death was caused by an agreement.

In his statement to the Police and also to his brother, after the crime, the 74-year-old had claimed that this was also the will of his wife, something which the Prosecuting Authority could not accept, since as it was emphasized in court, such a thing could set a legal precedent for future crimes.
