Foreign Minister's concern for the thousands of expatriates in Mariupol due to the blockade

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus expresses great concern over the blockade of Mariupol by Russian forces and the cutting off of the city from water, electricity and food supplies.

We call for an immediate end to the blockade for humanitarian reasons, in order to avoid further complications that endanger the lives of its inhabitants.

We call and look forward to the creation and observance of humanitarian corridors, so that there is a safe and smooth evacuation of the civilian population.

Our concern for the security situation in the country is not limited to the Mariupol area, but extends throughout the country. However, the presence of thousands of expatriates and civilians in Mariupol is normal to gather our special interest.
