People's response to the blood donations in August - Appeal to continue the offer

The blood donations organized by the Blood Center in August went well, since people responded to the call, the head of the Blood Center, Andri Panagiotou, told KYPE.

"I think it was one of the rare years that we didn't have to put out an appeal for people to help us," he said.

The head of the Blood Center thanked the people for responding to the call for blood donation in the summer, as a result of which, as she said, human lives are not at risk, people who often need blood, such as thalassemics, or various categories of patients are not left untransfused.

"It's groups that need blood all the time, beyond the surgeries, which will start more intensively now that people are coming back from vacation," he said, adding that daily needs amount to 250-300 vials of blood, so it's critical that people continue to come for blood donation.

"We will continue to invite people to come. We hope those who didn't donate blood will come these days," he said, acknowledging that there are many who are still on vacation, while with the opening of schools and the return to work attendance is likely to be reduced. "We ask that people continue to donate blood," he added.

The blood donation stations are located in Nicosia, at the Engomi Health Center and in Limassol, in the hall of the Church of Agios Georgios Havouza, with opening hours Monday to Friday 7:30am-8pm and Saturday 8am-2pm. In Larnaca, it is located on the 3rd floor of the New Wing of the General Hospital, with opening hours 7:30am-3pm.

In Paphos it is located in the Mesogi Cultural Center and in Famagusta in the hall of the Church of Panagia in Liopetri. For opening hours, people can contact Paphos at 96651525 and Famagusta at 96651537.
