Motorcyclists are also reacting to the new decree

The meeting with the Chief of Police did not have the result they hoped for

The meeting of the Chief with the representatives of the motorcyclists did not bring the desired result - for the latter - as the amendments made to the decree do not satisfy the motorcyclists. A typical example is the announcement of the Cyprus Motorcycle Federation which spoke of a "shipwreck".

Specifically, and according to an announcement by the Police, the rented motorcycles are now excluded from the decree, while at the same time some modifications were made regarding the hours. However, this did not satisfy the motorcyclists, who almost immediately after the meeting made announcements.

A typical example of the rift between the two sides - although the announcement of the Police speaks of "cooperation" of the two parties - is the peaceful pan-Cypriot protest they announced for next Friday, where they invite their members to attend.

This seems to be the first of a series of drastic measures that they had warned in the previous days in case the decree was not repealed.

The motorcyclists, through their representatives, speak of an absurd decree which, as they characteristically state, "they will not leave it like this". As they note in their announcements "the reaction of the competent Minister of Justice and Public Order unfortunately confirms the lack of knowledge and the absence of any strategy regarding the promotion and cultivation of the right climate of cooperation and mutual respect among all road users, which is a key pillar for improving road safety in general ".

It should be reminded that the whole issue brought a storm of reactions from the first moment it was made public, with the Police, however, talking about individual cases, adding that a large number of our fellow citizens viewed the decree positively.
