George (Kokos) Leonidas, a "journalist of the old guard" at the age of 87, passed away yesterday Wednesday and will be buried tomorrow, Friday, according to an announcement by the Cyprus Writers' Union.
During his long journalistic career, G. Leonidas worked for the newspapers "Eleftheria" and "Agon", while he was also a correspondent for the Athenian News Agency in the period 1974-2004. He was also a correspondent of several Athenian newspapers such as "I Kathimerini", "Mesimvrini" and "To Vima", but also of the expatriate newspaper of New York "Proini", it is added.
Leonidas was one of the founding members of the Cyprus Writers' Union in 1959 and brought the number 7 to the register of members of the organization while he was also one of the founders of the Veterans Journalists Branch of the PSC in which he was vice president since its founding in 2010.
