On what factors do the relaxation measures depend (VIDEO)

In the show Protoselido, Dr. Konstantinos Gourgoulianis, Professor of Pulmonology at the University of Thessaly, spoke about the pandemic and the relaxation of measures.

Specifically regarding the easing of measures decided by many countries, Dr. Gourgoulianis said that this is a logical development. Relaxations, according to him, depend on two factors. "Firstly, to have a good health system in the country and secondly, to have increased vaccination coverage," he said.

He noted that "Omicron brought relief because it has milder symptoms, and it does not make sense to count the positives, because most people spend it at home."

Finally, he said that no one still knows if we are at the end of the pandemic.

"The general picture is that pandemics last for two years and then become endemic. There is no one end switch. "The course we have now is that we are reaching an endemic phase of the virus," he said.
