Tonight the coldest night - Intense bad weather may "hit" Cyprus

The coldest winter night to date will be tonight, according to the Meteorological Department.

Specifically, the temperature will drop to around 6 degrees inland, around 10 on the coast and to 1 degree in the higher mountains, where frost will form.

At the same time, in the afternoon the weather will be generally cloudy and there will be rain and local thunderstorms in which hail is likely to occur.

Snowfall is expected from time to time on the highest peaks of Troodos. The winds will blow southwest to west, 3 to 4 Beaufort.

In a storm the winds can change and intensify to 5 to 6 Beaufort.

Tonight the weather will gradually become mostly clear, with locally increased clouds at intervals, but on the coasts, mainly in the west and north, isolated rains or thunderstorms are expected.

Intense bad weather in sight

According to forecast models now, new bad weather is expected to affect Cyprus on Sunday, although it is still too early and may not reach the island with the apparent intensity.

If the low barometric pressure in Cyprus finally reaches this intensity, it is expected to give rains and generally strong weather phenomena.

In fact, according to information, it is not excluded that in bad weather a name will be given for the first time.
