The 27-year-old SYOP paratrooper was transported from Paphos General Hospital to Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition after being injured in a scheduled exercise by helicopter flight and falling into the sea, according to Defense Ministry Spokesman Christos.
In his statements to KYPE, Mr. Pieris stated that the condition of the 27-year-old SYOP patrolman is still critical, adding that he was transferred from Paphos General Hospital to Nicosia General Hospital, where he is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
Mr. Pieris said that the SYOP commander had fractures in the spine and swelling in the head.
According to the Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Christos Pieris, the SYOP commando, during the exercise, jumped from the helicopter, as planned, based on the scenario of the exercise, and fell into the water in the sea area of Lara.
The SYOP commander commanded a boat, based on the scenario, and it was found that he had lost consciousness. He was then taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Paphos General Hospital and from there to the Nicosia General Hospital, where he is being treated in critical condition.
