Tomorrow the submission of nominations for the Archbishop's Elections

Tomorrow Tuesday, between the hours of 9-11 in the morning, the nominations for the archdiocesan elections will be submitted, in writing and with signatures.

In his statements to KYPE, the General Superintendent of Archdiocesan Elections and Director of the Audit Department of the Church of Cyprus, Ioannis Harilaou, said that tomorrow any interested parties who meet the criteria of the Charter of the Church of Cyprus should bring to his office either themselves or their representative, a written signed letter expressing their interest in being a candidate for the Archdiocesan Elections.

"In order to be able to have a class, we decided that this would take place between the hours of 9-11 in the morning. They will get proof that they have delivered their letter and then it will be the normal process to check them so we can move forward," he added.

When asked if they have received the voter lists, Mr. Harilaou said that almost in their entirety, "we have received the voter lists from the state and we are currently forming our voter lists, taking information from them."

He noted that they expect to be completed in the next 7 to 8 days, by the end of the month, early next month, before they can be posted.

"They will also enter a platform on the internet, that is, a special platform where anyone interested will be able to put some of their personal information and will be the only one who will be able to do so to see if they are on the list and in which parish or community they are , as happens in many elections", he added.

There will follow, Mr. Harilaou continued, the period of objections, which will be three days, where within these days someone will be able to make any objection between them and a new registration.

Answering a question about what the next procedure will be, Mr. Charilaou said that the procedures to hold the elections are not simple, they are very complicated.

"The lists are not the only ones, that's why we are constantly working on the process to make correct and impartial elections. And for this reason I have officially requested, as well as the decision of the Holy Synod, any help from the state, which will be given to us and is being given to us so that we can have their support and their support to hold the elections, as must be done, bearing in mind the large volume of work, but also special tasks that must be done", he concluded.
