The Police proceeded with the arrest of a 35-year-old resident of Pafos, to facilitate investigations regarding an investigated case of theft from a person, robbery and assault causing actual bodily harm.
The incident happened at noon on July 2, 2022, in Paphos with an 86-year-old victim, also a resident of Paphos. According to the evidence under review, while the 86-year-old was in a square in Paphos, an unknown man approached him asking for money. Subsequently, the stranger allegedly grabbed the 86-year-old's wallet from his hands. The complainant resisted and then the stranger allegedly attacked and injured him. Then, after the attacker managed to snatch the wallet from the 86-year-old, he ran away.
After the incident, the 86-year-old went to Paphos General Hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.
From the Police examinations, testimony was obtained against a 35-year-old resident of Pafos, based on which a court warrant was issued for his arrest. The 35-year-old was arrested in the early hours of today, pursuant to a court warrant, and was taken into custody to facilitate investigations.
