A 28-year-old man was arrested by members of the Police in connection with an investigated case of animal abuse, specifically of two dogs, which in a video posted on a social networking site, were allegedly subjected to a dogfight by two persons. Another man, a 25-year-old man, was arrested last Sunday in connection with the case and was remanded in custody following a court order.
The investigation of the case started last Saturday, after a complaint submitted by a citizen to the TAE Limassol, regarding the posting of the video. The Limassol Animal Police Squad immediately undertook the investigation of the case and in collaboration with the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate, the relevant video was isolated and the details of the suspects were verified.
The first of the two suspects in the video, a 25-year-old man, was located and arrested on a warrant by members of the Animal Police in Limassol, shortly before 4.30 pm on Sunday. On Monday morning, he was brought before the Limassol District Court, which approved a relevant request of the Police and issued an order for his one-day detention, for the purpose of police investigations.
On Monday afternoon, the second suspect, a 28-year-old man, was located and arrested on a warrant by members of the Animal Police in Limassol. He was also detained for police purposes.
