A 78-year-old man, who was slightly injured after falling in a steep area of the Forest in Agia Marina Chrysochous, was located and rescued.
According to the assistant police director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, yesterday at 13:00, information was received by the Police about an injured person in a steep area of the Forest at the location of Agia Marina Cemetery. Immediately, said Mr. Ioannou, an ambulance and members of the Fire Service and the Paphos Police Department rushed to the scene.
He added that upon arrival at the place and after a search on a steep slope, a 78-year-old retiree was found injured and lying on the ground. As he told the police on the same day around 10:00 he went to the specific area with his vehicle for a walk. At one point, after losing his bearings, he tried to drive into a fire lane which was very downhill, making it impossible for his vehicle to leave the area. He then allegedly immobilized, as he said, his vehicle and tried to cross the forest on foot to the village of Agia Marina Chrysochous to call for help.
At one point on a steep slope he slipped and fell to the ground. He had a wound on his face and some abrasions on his hands. With the help of firefighters, police and rescuers, the 78-year-old was transported by stretcher to a place accessible by ambulance, from where he was picked up and transported first to the City Hospital of Chrysochous and then to the Paphos General Hospital to be examined.
According to the treating doctors, his state of health does not inspire any concern.
