Dr. Koliou: The fatigue of the people was a reason that led to the imposition of stricter measures (VIDEO)

The fatigue of the people was one of the reasons that stricter measures were imposed as it is difficult to cooperate if it is not something very important, said Dr. Maria Koliou.

Speaking on ANT1 show, "Mera Mesimeri", the Professor of Infectious Diseases and Pediatrics, Dr. Maria Koliou, said that the measures are such that they do not need the cooperation of the people to be implemented.

As Ms. Koliou explained, there is no other way to properly monitor the population and control all those who are unruly for it and the rest will have to pay.

Continuing, he noted that the measures that came into force today are similar to those implemented in previous weeks in Paphos and Limassol and have worked as things have shown.

Ms. Koliou, pointed out that the right decisions were made for the two Provinces, following the instructions of the ECDC to take drastic measures at the local level, however, there was an increase in incidents in other cities, making it imperative to tighten measures.

"We saw terrible images, young people dancing on the tables even though the restaurants closed at 7," he underlined.

In fact, he stressed that restaurants may be wronged since no problems were observed, however, cafes and bars can not be easily controlled, while as he stressed, "the state must support these companies, which pay a serious price."

Asked if the appropriate measures were taken in the nursing homes, Ms. Koliou, pointed out that they suffered a defeat despite giving suggestions on how to protect the elderly, the virus entered the nursing homes by employees.

Ms. Koliou stressed that efforts are being made to protect the elderly, but they need a lot of work as the measures must be perfectly observed in all areas.

As for the churches, he said that the Minister of Health left a window of optimism in case the epidemiological picture improves and that some relaxations take place at Christmas, while he underlined that the Archbishop's suggestions are very good.

Concluding, he explained that if the measures are relaxed, the situation will change drastically, while a third wave of pandemics is expected in Europe.
