The increase in the percentage of positivity in the community is causing concern, with yesterday's announcement by the Ministry of Health showing the percentage at 2,07%.
Dr. Meshalis Voniatis spoke at Mesimeri kai Kati, explaining that it is too early to see results from the lockdown.
"We had an increase, which may be due to the large crowd in the weekend before the lockdown, in restaurants, beaches and shopping malls."
He added that with the current data, the lockdown may need to be extended, but clarified that this will be seen more next week.
"In a week at the most we should be able to say whether the lockdown measures should be extended for another week. "The good thing is that the vaccination program has intensified," he said.
He added that the only way to deal with and control the situation and get out of this pandemic is to get vaccinated.
"Denying the problem is the worst thing we can do. "We have to accept the problem and deal with it properly, science and technology are on our side," he said.
In closing, he said: "I want to hope that it will be the last quarantine and we will be led to a summer like last year or even better. I believe that it will be even better if we are all vaccinated ".
