Revenues from tourism in August 2022 reached € 399,7 million compared to € 272,5 million recorded in August 2021, marking an increase of 46,7%, based on the results of the Traveler Survey conducted by the Statistical Service.
For the period January – August 2022, tourism revenues are estimated at €1.617,1 million. compared to €777,0m in the corresponding period of 2021, as well as €235,6m in the period January – August 2020.
Despite the significant increase, revenues from tourism are still down compared to the pre-pandemic era and 2019 which was a record year for Cypriot tourism. Specifically, in August 2019, revenues of €431,1 million were recorded, while for the eight months of 2022, revenues compared to 2019 are reduced by 7,4%.
