A 33-year-old woman was detained for assaulting a police officer and refusing to use a protective mask in violation of the Disinfection Law.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, yesterday at around 14:25, a 33-year-old woman holding a Russian passport, who is a permanent resident of Ayia Napa, arrived at Paphos airport on a flight from Moscow.
The 33-year-old said Mr. Ioannou, allegedly refused to undergo a PCR test and did not wear a protective mask. The case was reported to the Police, its members approached the woman and told her that she had committed offenses in violation of the Law on Infection.
The 33-year-old did not comply and then handed over her passport to a police officer to record her details.
Then, however, she allegedly beat the police officer with her hands, snatched the passport and, in parallel with her body, pushed the police officer to avoid control. The 33-year-old was arrested and taken to the Paphos police station.
She was subsequently charged in writing and released to be summoned to court later. Finally she consented and was tested for PCR test.
Paphos Police are investigating the case.
