In anticipation of the Christmas holidays and with the aim of promoting the safety of children in particular, the Consumer Protection Service, during the period 22/11/2021 - 3/12/2021, carried out a control and information campaign for children's toys, the demand and use is increased during this period.
The campaign covered 108 toy retailers nationwide in Cyprus, where on-site inspections were carried out in order to identify and withdraw dangerous and non-compliant children's toys, as well as to inform the economic operators. During the campaign, 19 children's toys were identified, for which the economic operators were warned to take immediate corrective measures.
At the same time, the Service will continue to inform consumers in order to more effectively protect their health and safety.
As part of the campaign, an information leaflet was prepared and posted on the Service's website entitled "Tips for a Safe Christmas".
The brochure offers useful tips for preventing accidents that are often observed during the holidays.
Furthermore, it is reminded that there is a prospectus posted on the website of the Service entitled "Dangers of small objects", which provides guidance on how parents can control small objects in the environment of children up to three years old to keep them away.
