The 67-year-old is guilty of the deadly fire in Arakapa

The 67-year-old defendant was found guilty by the District Court of Limassol for the deadly fire that started in Arakapa and spread to other areas of mountainous Limassol and Larnaca, leaving behind four dead.

It is recalled that the fire broke out on July 3, 2021, causing incalculable damage and destruction.

The Permanent Criminal Court of Limassol in today's decision found the 67-year-old guilty of the charges he is facing. These are the offenses of inviting a fire in a plantation and lighting a fire in the countryside.

It was ordered that the accused remain in custody until May 31 when sentencing proceedings are set.
