She rented a "ghost" apartment - She was robbed of €1,500

A new case of online fraud is being investigated by the Police, following a complaint by a 29-year-old woman who complained that she was cheated by strangers in her attempt to rent an apartment online.

According to what the 29-year-old complained, after a conversation she had via the internet, with a person unknown to her, they agreed that the complainant would rent an apartment in Limassol from this person. The apartment in question was listed for rent on various websites.

On November 16, 2022, in order to validate their agreement, the 29-year-old proceeded to pay €1,500, through a transfer to a bank account, indicated to her by the stranger, in a bank abroad. Since then, the complainant has not been able to contact the person in question, since he does not respond to her messages.

The Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau is investigating the case.
