Found driving a stolen vehicle – In possession of drugs

The Police arrested a 21-year-old resident of Limassol yesterday, after he was spotted driving a stolen car on a street in Limassol. A small amount of drugs and two knives were also found in his possession.

The car was stolen early yesterday, while it was parked outside a kiosk in Limassol. Around 11 p.m. yesterday, the vehicle in question was spotted moving in the Enaerio area in Limassol. Members of the Police, who were in the area, stopped the vehicle for a check, during which it was found that the driver was a 21-year-old resident of Limassol.

During a search of the car, small amounts of methamphetamine and cannabis, two knives and the sum of €150 were found and seized as evidence.

The 21-year-old was arrested for spontaneous offenses and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The TAE of Limassol and YKAN (District Level of Limassol) are investigating the case.

On the occasion of this incident of vehicle theft, the Police remind and advise car owners/drivers, who are responsible for their vehicles, that they should ensure the safe custody of them, as well as their keys, in order to prevent access in them and their possible theft.

They are also asked not to leave their car keys exposed in prominent places or in places that anyone can access. They should also take care to keep their car keys safe, especially when they are in crowded areas, where there is a possibility of them being stolen.

Do not leave their car running, even if they will be gone even for a very short time and never leave the keys in the ignition or in the door.

Always lock the doors and roll up the windows fully, even if the car is parked in front of their house or in another place considered safe.

Always park their car in places where there is enough street lighting. Dark or secluded places make it easier for thieves.
