Famagusta District: Handcuffs in Syros trafficker of immigrants

A case of assisting third-country nationals to enter the territory of the Republic illegally is being investigated by the Police, with a suspected 48-year-old man, who was arrested with a court warrant and detained, for the purpose of police interrogation.

The 48-year-old arrived in Cyprus yesterday, together with eight other persons, citizens of Third Countries, in a boat that was located by a member of the Port and Maritime Police, at a distance of eight nautical miles, in the sea area of ​​Famagusta.

The crew of the police akato transported the nine immigrants to a port in the area of ​​Protaras, where examinations followed to verify their details and the conditions under which they arrived in Cyprus.

During the investigations, it was testified that the pilot of the boat and trafficker of the eight immigrants was the 48-year-old suspect.
