From a souvenir shop in Protaras, 3,270 items of clothing, bags, hats and sunglasses were confiscated, while from a second souvenir shop in Ayia Napa, 2,123 items of clothing, bags, hats and sunglasses were confiscated. In another clothing store, in Protaras, 262 items of clothing and footwear were located and confiscated.
The search operation was carried out yesterday by members of the Anti-Theft Branch of the Intellectual Property and Illegal Betting Division, the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate, in collaboration with members of the Famagusta OPE and with officials of the Larnaca-Famagusta Customs Department.
From the preliminary inspection carried out by the officials of the Customs Department, suspicions were raised that the products found were counterfeit and they were detained for further examinations by the Customs Department due to their competence.
