The Famagusta District Court today issued a four-day detention order against a 31-year-old man to facilitate police investigations into an investigated case of arson, threat and threat of violence, crimes committed on Sunday (March 27th).
According to a statement from the Police Headquarters Communication Office, "a 27-year-old man from the Famagusta province was arrested late on Sunday night, March 31, for facilitating investigations into a case of arson in the province." .
It added that "the fire had broken out in a house owned by a 50-year-old on the night of March 26. "The house was completely destroyed by the fire, while examinations carried out revealed that it had been set maliciously with the use of flammable material".
The man was arrested and detained while today he was brought before the District Court of Famagusta which issued a detention order against him for four days.
The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
