A coronavirus patient is currently being treated in the ward COVID-19, of the Larnaca General Hospital, which reopened in order to treat people with coronavirus, due to an increase in cases in the community, the Scientific Director of the Larnaca - Famagusta General Hospitals Amalia Hatzigianni told KYPE.
Referring to the Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as a Reference Hospital for patients with coronavirus, she said that 44 people are being treated, eight of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit, as they need closer monitoring. "She added that the youngest patient is 22 years old and the oldest 97 years old, who have not been vaccinated. "The average age of people hospitalized is 68 years."
He also noted that "of the patients admitted to the Referral Hospital, a percentage of around 80% do not have a history of vaccination against COVID-19Answering a relevant question, Ms. Hatzigianni stated that "today a person was transported to the ward for treatment COVID-19 of Larnaca General Hospital which opened today in order to treat patients with coronavirus, due to an increase in cases in the community. The Eden Rehabilitation Center in Tersefanou accommodates 83 people who will remain until their complete negativity ".
He added that "unfortunately the new Omicron mutation of the coronavirus has arrived in Cyprus, which is more contagious, however it seems that the third dose of the vaccine covers and protects people from this mutation.
