The bad weather "Diomidis" is back with intense phenomena - See LIVE image

The low barometer which was named "Diomidis", with center in southern Greece, moves very slowly east and affects our region.

According to the Officer of the Meteorological Service, Michalis Mousko, "Diomidis" is expected to give several phenomena tonight, mainly west with rain, while there will be snowfall in the higher mountains.

Tomorrow after noon the effects will stop, however, the second wave of "Diomidis" is expected to "hit" again on Wednesday with similar phenomena, such as rain, storms and snowfall.

The same scenario will continue until noon on Thursday with the effects being more local and towards the evening there will be a noticeable improvement of the weather.

As he noted, a warning may be issued by the Meteorological Department late Tuesday.

The weather in detail

In the afternoon the weather will be mostly cloudy, with rain in most areas and isolated thunderstorms and the possibility of hail. Locally, the effects are expected to be prolonged or intense, mainly in the western half of the island and in the mountains. Snow or sleet will occasionally fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. The winds will blow mainly southwest, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 beauforts, but locally on the coast or in very strong storms, 6 beauforts. The sea will be turbulent to wavy, in the leewards, but in the leewards wavy and initially up to very wavy.

The chance of precipitation in the afternoon is significantly reduced. The winds will blow mainly south to southwest, initially weak to moderate, 3 to 4 beauforts and on the leeward coast and mountain strong, 5 beauforts, to gradually become moderate to strong, 4 to 5 beauforts and on the leeward coast locally very strong, 6 Beaufort. The sea will be turbulent and windy in the wind. The temperature will rise to around 16 degrees inland, around 17 on the coast and around 6 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Wednesday the weather will be mostly cloudy, with occasional rains, isolated thunderstorms and snowfall in the highest peaks of Troodos or locally in the higher mountains. Locally, the effects may be prolonged or even intense. The weather is expected to gradually improve in the evening. On Thursday, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times cloudy, with local rains and isolated thunderstorms, as well as snowfall on the highest peaks of Troodos. The weather is expected to improve significantly in the evening. On Friday the weather will be mostly clear, with locally increased clouds, while it is possible that there will be isolated rains or temporary snowfall, locally in the higher mountains.

The temperature is not expected to change significantly until Thursday, remaining close to the average climatic values, while on Friday it will drop, to fluctuate slightly below the average climatic values.

The height of the snow in Troodos Square, at the time of issuance of the bulletin, was 12 cm.
