Visit of the Indian Foreign Minister: Cyprus – India will sign memoranda and agreements

Cyprus and India will sign bilateral memoranda and agreements in the fields of military cooperation, energy and immigration, as part of a working visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to Cyprus, on December 29-31, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulidis .

The press representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dimitris Dimitriou, told KYPE that this is a very important visit both in terms of semiotics and symbolism as well as in terms of substance and content. "India is a very important member country of the Commonwealth with which we are connected by parallel historical paths, strong ties," he said.

Mr. Dimitriou also said that this visit "creates a prospect for strengthening bilateral cooperation with India in a mutually beneficial strategic context".

He noted that during it "the bilateral relations and the prospect of further deepening them in areas such as education, economy, security, defense, etc. will be discussed".

He also said that "we will inform the Indian side about the efforts of the Turkish side to upgrade the pseudo-state and also about the creation of new acts at the expense of the Republic of Cyprus".

"Current regional issues of common interest, EU-India relations as well as ways in which India could play a role in existing multilateral cooperation schemes will also be discussed," noted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson.

He also mentioned that as part of the visit of the Indian Foreign Minister, bilateral memoranda and agreements in the fields of military cooperation, energy and immigration will be signed.
