Yesterday, the Police proceeded with the arrest of a 47-year-old resident of Larnaca, to facilitate investigations regarding an investigated case of illegal supply and possession of drugs, illegal possession of drugs for the purpose of supply to another person and illegal possession of property.
Around 3.40 p.m. yesterday, members of the OPE of Larnaca, stopped the car driven by the 47-year-old man, on a street in Larnaca, for a check. The 47-year-old assaulted the police officers in order to obstruct the search of a shoulder bag in his possession, resulting in his arrest for the self-inflicted offense of assaulting a police officer and resisting lawful arrest.
Then, during the check, 19 packages and a nylon bag were located in said purse, which contained a quantity of methamphetamine, with a total weight of approximately 3 grams. Also, in the possession of the 47-year-old, various pieces of gold and jewelry were found and confiscated, for which the 47-year-old did not give satisfactory explanations as to how they came into his possession.
YKAN (Provincial Division of Larnaca) and the Department of Minor Offenses of Larnaca are investigating the case.
