The Retail Turnover Value Index increased in March 2022 by 7,7% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. During the same month, the Retail Turnover Volume Index decreased by 2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data published by the Statistical Service.
The largest annual increase was recorded in the retail trade of vehicle fuels, with 37,2% higher value compared to March 2021 and 6,1 increase in volume.
On the contrary, a decrease of 19% was recorded in value and 24,4% in volume in the non-specialized retail stores.
For the period January-March 2022, the value index is estimated to have increased by 9,9% and the volume index by 1,7% compared to the same period of 2021.
During the first three months of the year, fuel retail increased by 43,4% in value and 12,1% in volume. In March, the largest increase in volume, amounting to 23,2% was recorded in textiles, clothing, footwear, with a corresponding increase in value of 26,8%, compared to January 2022.
The largest decrease in both value and volume during the first three months of 2022 was recorded in non-specialized retail stores, with 11% and 15,7% respectively.
