Nursing members of the Pancyprian Nurses Guild (PASYNO) are holding a protest outside the Ministry of Health.
Specifically, the nurses went on a 12-hour strike today, Monday, to protest the disciplinary investigation ordered by the Minister of Health for five nurses of Athalassa Hospital, who refused to care for a patient with coronavirus, protesting that the patient was not safe. of the patient himself, as well as of themselves.
According to PASYNO, the decision was taken by the union itself and the nurses followed its instructions, however, the Minister decided to conduct an investigation into disciplinary misconduct of its members.
In the past few days, PASYNO launched complaints against the Minister of Health, for interfering in the right to trade unionism, while calling on him to withdraw all ongoing proceedings for the trial of misdemeanors against nurses.
On the other hand, the Minister of Health responded to PASYNO, stating that the disciplinary investigation can not be carried out "because it is interference in the work of justice and violates the principles of good administration."
