GE for "golden passports": the Ministry of Internal Affairs hid information - the control was obstructed

The Audit Service's Report on the granting of passports in the context of the Cyprus investment program was made public on Monday morning.

In his post on Twitter, the Auditor General, Odysseas Michaelidis, notes that this is the Service's contribution to the control of a program that stigmatized Cyprus internationally, so that there is accountability, attribution of responsibilities and revocation of naturalizations.

"The audit could, without a problem, be done in parallel with the Investigative Committee if it was not blocked for 1 whole year," he adds.

Attached to the post are the main conclusions of the Audit Office, according to which, 1. The KEP remained fragile until the end 2. The Ministry of Internal Affairs hid data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs 3. €200 million loss from VAT 4. €25 million loss from non- collection of fees 5. Contracts worth €1 billion canceled 6. Contracts worth €3,5 billion pending.
