That's why it's so easy for subjects to leak – The difference with finals

The organizational secretary of the association of Greek-Cypriot philologists, Valentina Dimitriadou Saltet, was asked to comment on the leak of the essay of the New Greeks, as a guest on the SIGMA show, "Front Page".

Asked to answer how the inviolability of the exams is guaranteed, she said that no one guarantees, the process is flawed since hundreds of people know the issues in advance.

"We rely on the ethics, dignity and honesty of the colleagues who make up the examination committees. But this involves risks because even a person is not possessed of morals, we have seen what it means", he said.

He also noted that there is another issue about the process that private schools participate in, and the question he raised is whether the Ministry does the necessary checks on private schools.

He also mentioned that the all-Cypriot exams ensure inviolability because the writings are done behind closed doors, there is no possibility of communication with the outside world and they are then transferred with a security system, they are not photocopied in schools and the files are opened inside the classrooms, so there are no leakage issues. On the contrary, in the exams that took place now, the setters work long before the exams, the papers are ready long before and are sent to the Ministry, so everything is based on the honesty of the people.

He also pointed out that he completely disagrees with the Minister of Education regarding the fact that the same thing could happen in the final exams, since, as he said, the whole process is controlled and there is no possibility unless the Ministry's inspectors themselves, who go with proposals on subjects, have give the topics in advance.

"It is a laborious process that I do not believe that any inspector or any colleague should give as is. Such processing of the issues takes place during those endless and intense hours at the hotel, there is no communication outside and it is impossible for there to be a leak", he emphasized.

In closing, he said that there is a question of legitimacy since about 10% of the students, the children of special education, took exams in the first paper.

A distinction was made and it must be clarified how such a decision was made, he said.
