The Limassol District Court issued a seven-day detention order against a 35-year-old health care provider at the Limassol General Hospital, who allegedly extorted money from an elderly patient while he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
According to the Police, the complaint was made by relatives of the 77-year-old man, who found, after his death, the absence of 1,500 euros in cash, as well as 2,500 euros from his credit card, which had been used for online purchases.
The examinations provided a testimony against the 35-year-old, who was arrested and today was brought before the court, which issued a 7-day detention order.
The crimes of theft and embezzlement with false representations are being investigated against him, crimes committed between August 5 and September 23.
