The President asked Charles Michel for a strong EU reaction on the issue of Varos

The President of the Republic, Nikos Anatastasiadis, demanded a strong reaction from the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in order to reverse the illegal Turkish actions in relation to the besieged city of Famagusta.

President Michel assured the President of the Republic that he was awaiting the decisions of the United Nations Security Council, and said that the EU would react accordingly.

According to a written statement by Government Spokesman Marios Pelakanos, President Anastasiadis had a telephone conversation with Mr. Michel today.

During their telephone conversation, President Anastasiadis briefed Mr. Michel on the latest provocations of Turkey during the illegal visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the occupied territories, and in particular the new illegal actions in relation to the enclosed city. Calling for a strong reaction from the European Union to reverse them.

For his part, according to the Government Spokesman, the President of the European Council referred to the recent conversation he had with the Turkish President at which he had made appearances in order to avoid provocations on the part of Turkey during Mr. Erdogan's visit to occupied Cyprus. .

As Mr. Pelakanos notes, President Michel assured the President of the Republic that he is waiting for the decisions of the United Nations Security Council, noting that the EU will react accordingly.
