Dimitrios Kyriakou, 35, along with two other people were convicted of killing a young man near a playground in London. According to the court, they killed 22-year-old Imani Allaway-Muir to avenge the robbery he wrongly thought he had committed.
According to British media, after an 11-week trial, the 35-year-old Cypriot, a permanent resident of London, was found guilty of the murder of the 22-year-old. James Nicholson and Nathaniel Reece were also convicted.
According to the facts of the case, on July 4, 2020, Kyriakou was robbed by four unknown men on Carville Street. His perpetrators had stolen cash, his Rolex and his iPhone. He was also injured in the head by the attack.
Police officers rushed to the spot, who spoke with Kyriakou and learned that one of the perpetrators was holding a knife. He told police he did not know the perpetrators but declined to say more.
After the robbery, the three men met at Kyriakos' house and made plans on how to locate the robberies. Specifically, they used the find my iPhone app and as soon as they found the location, they went to the area and surrounded it. They took a pistol with them.
As soon as they reached the spot, Nathaniel Reece started shooting the 22-year-old, and then they got into their vehicle and left the scene.
The 22-year-old was still alive when the police and the ambulance arrived at the scene. Despite efforts to keep him alive, he exhaled 30 minutes after being shot.
Police searched the area and found 14 cases, an iPhone, two Nokia mobile phones and a broken SIM card. The phones and the SIM card belonged to Kyriakou and were part of the property that had been stolen during the robbery.
However, detectives found that Imani was not involved in Sunday's robbery. He simply found himself at the spot where the stolen property was located just moments before the Cypriot and his associates appeared. When Reece opened fire, the 22-year-old was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It was heard in court that while Reece was the one who opened fire and took Imani's life, the other two defendants were all jointly responsible for this death, because in different ways they knowingly helped and encouraged the commission of the crime.
