In the coming days, it will become clear whether the next phase of the application of the photo-marking system will proceed. According to the Minister of Transport Yannis Karousos, the biggest problems from the implementation of the system have been resolved and the process is in the evaluation of the project by a special committee.
In his statements in Limassol and when asked about the issue, Yannis Karousos said that "the photo labeling system is here to stay. At the moment the project acceptance committee is checking whether the specifications or requirements of the pilot phase have been met."
As he said, in the next few days we will know if the approval will be given by the competent committee. "If the committee gives the approval we will proceed to the next phase where 16 more mobile and 24 fixed cameras will come and we will officially go to the first phase. We are very close, but I expect the reception committee to make use of everything they have in front of them and we expect that we will move forward".
The Transport Minister said that several problems have been resolved. "I don't see that there is a big issue, almost all the extrajudicials have been sent to those who have been reported, several problems have been resolved several issues but it is a matter of offers, it is a matter of the receiving committee, so in the next few days we will have news if and when they are approved we move on to the next phase".
