Approval for the third dose of the vaccine was given by the Ministry with those over 65 having priority.
Speaking to Mesimeri kai Kati, the administrative officer of a senior observatory, Kyriaki Sarri, stated that they support the decision "for a supportive dose for people over 65 years of age, especially for people living in nursing homes".
Specifically, Ms. Sarri said "We see that some nursing homes are doing the right thing, but unfortunately some other nursing homes do not follow the measures they should follow against the coronavirus, with the result that the elderly are more exposed than ever and do not become the necessary controls ".
"Until yesterday, we received a complaint about a nursing home that does not comply with the measures against the coronavirus at all, they do not wear masks, they do not ask for safe paas, they do not have soap in the toilets," he said.
"We receive these complaints, investigate them and try to provide information to the person making the complaint to speak to the relevant service," said Ms. Sarri.
He later clarified that several inspections are being carried out by the Ministry of Health but as he said it would be good to do more "in cases where they do not want to take measures we should call the Police".
