Occupied: Protest tomorrow from the trade union platform for the economy

Nine unions, members of the Turkish Cypriot trade union platform, are going on strike tomorrow, Tuesday due to the financial situation.

As reported in the occupied territories, these are the guilds of teachers, professors, "civil servants" KTAMS and ÇAĞ-SEN, DEV-İŞ, employees in cooperative structures, the "tax and revenue department", the "customs department" and employees in the "municipalities".

The event will start with a course from different and different starting points and everyone will end up in the "parliament" at 11 in the morning. Each guild will go on strike where it has organized members.

At a press conference for the announcement of the event, it was stressed that "we will be on the road to protect the purchasing power, a fair tax system, a currency that will protect the purchasing power, to give back what was stolen from our society, to speak for property tax and to prevent the theft of our children's future ".

Sener Elzil said they would continue the protests and criticized the fact that the "government" did not take timely measures to protect wages and pensions against the fall of TL. Their main demand, he added, is the accuracy of life (ATA) to be reflected in salaries and wages.

The teachers' union (KTÖS) announced today that it will support tomorrow's protest of the platform with work stoppages at different hours in different schools.

The union states that especially those between the ages of 20 and 35 have become 50% poorer within 10 years. He noted that a newly appointed teacher in the occupied areas earns a gross year of 5.7750 euros (with the current exchange value of TL) while in the "south", a gross 23.885.

He blames the "refugee law" for this, as referred to in the "law" on the rights and scales of the newly appointed in the "public" sector. Finally, he argues that in the occupied territories they should move to a stable monetary unit, meaning the euro.
