China: One million people in lockdown after finding 3 asymptomatic

China locks another one million people in downtown city after finding three asymptomatic cases covid-19.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese authorities have adopted a "zero covid" policy aimed at minimizing the occurrence of new cases.

The city of Yuzhou, located in Henan Province, about 800 kilometers south of Beijing, announced on Monday night to its 1,2 million residents that they would have to stay at home to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

The measure, the duration of which has not been specified, was taken after the detection of three asymptomatic cases covid-19.

"Roadblocks will be set up throughout Yuzhou in order to strictly enforce the precautionary measures," the city council said on its Weibo account.

It is now forbidden for the inhabitants of the city to leave it, unless they have obtained a relevant permit.

Chinese authorities announced 175 new cases today covid-19, of which 95 in the city of Xi'an, whose 13 million inhabitants are in lockdown for almost two weeks. This is the most severe lockdown that has been implemented in China after that in Wuhan, the city where the new coronavirus first appeared.

Xi'an is known for the famous buried army of terracotta warriors, which is located in the mausoleum of China's first emperor. More than 1.600 cases have been identified covid-19 from 9 December.

China has virtually eliminated the epidemic in its territory since the spring of 2020, thanks to long-term mandatory quarantines on arrival, targeted lockdows, mass diagnostic tests, mobile applications to track movement and drastically restrict international flights.

However, he continues to experience small sporadic outbreaks on a regular basis, which are generally limited to a few weeks.
