Serious incidents took place last night in Limassol, after the attack of about 20 hooded men against a group of spectators, which resulted in the injury of at least two people. One of the two is being treated in a serious condition at the Nicosia General Hospital. Police officers, who went immediately to the scene, arrested a person.
The attack took place around 11.20 pm, when a group of hooded men holding bats entered a club located in Limassol and attacked club members, who wore the insignia of a specific football team.
Members of the Police rushed to the area, upon whose arrival the assailants fled in various directions. The police pursued the persons in question and managed to stop and arrest one of them for a self-inflicted crime. It was established that he is a 20-year-old resident of a village in the province of Limassol, in whose possession a hood and a torn shirt were found.
The 20-year-old was injured in the face and was transported to Limassol General Hospital. It was found that he had a bruise on his forehead and after receiving first aid he was discharged.
Two injured people, aged 24 and 30, were found inside the club. According to the police, while they were in the said club for food, wearing their team's jerseys, they were attacked by a group of hooded men, who beat them and stole the 24-year-old's jersey.
The two injured were taken to Limassol General Hospital. The 30-year-old was found to have bruises, abrasions and bruises and was detained for treatment. The 24-year-old was found to have intracranial hemorrhage and multiple fractures of the frontal bone and due to the severity of his condition he was admitted to the General Hospital of Nicosia for treatment.
In addition to the injuries, the attack caused extensive material damage to the club.
