CYPRUS: 23-year-old "took off" with 187km on the highway

A 23-year-old resident of Nicosia was arrested last night by members of the Traffic Headquarters, after he was found to be driving at excessive speed.

Specifically, around 11.40pm. Yesterday, while members of the Traffic Police were conducting a speed control on the Limassol - Nicosia highway, they found a car moving at a speed of 187 kilometers per hour, while the maximum limit is 100 kilometers.

The vehicle was stopped for inspection. The driver was found to be 23 years old, who was arrested for a self-inflicted crime. He was taken to the Pera Chorio Police Station, where he was charged in writing.

Today, the 23-year-old is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court, for a trial of the case.

The Pera Chorio Police Station is investigating the case.
