The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 5 2022:
- 4 people died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 649.
- 205 patients COVID-19 of which 70 are in serious condition. 80% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 18 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 130,076 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).
- 5,202 (positivity rate: 4%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 188,380.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:
The 3 people who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, relate to:
- Woman, 84 years old, who ended up on January 4 at Larnaca General Hospital.
- A man, 80 years old, who ended up on January 5 at the General Hospital of Nicosia.
- Woman, 58 years old, who ended up on January 5 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman, 91 years old, who ended up on January 5 at the Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 649, of which:
411 men (63,3%), and
- 429 women (66,1%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 76 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 205 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 70 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 70 patients in serious condition, 28 are intubated, 3 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 39 to an intensive care unit.
