CYPRUS: 489 new cases of coronavirus

Another 489 new cases of COVID19 were announced today in Cyprus, bringing the total number of cases to 131,951. According to the Ministry of Health, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 590. At the same time, 110 patients COVID-19 of which 42 are in serious condition. 60% of patients do not have a history of vaccination. Three post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized in intensive care due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit. A total of 74,277 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test). The positivity rate is 0.66%.

The current results are detailed

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 590, of which:

  • 377 men (64%), and
  • 213 women (36%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 110 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 42 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 42 patients in serious condition, 17 are intubated, 2 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 23 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 74,277 diagnoses made, 4,308 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 69,969 by the method of antigen rapid test, 489 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 88 cases from 986 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases of 992 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 86 cases from 1953 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 11 cases from 277 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 202 cases from 43864 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 95 cases from 26105 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
  • 1 case from 100 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
