CYPRUS: These are the best paid professions

Workers in the energy sector as well as traditional professions in the financial sector such as banking, are the ones who have the best pay, according to the data of the Statistical Service for wages in various professional sectors.

The professions with the highest salaries concern mining support activities, with an average monthly gross salary of € 7.689, while professions related to the extraction of crude oil and natural gas with an average monthly gross earnings of € 4.881 follow. Workers in the mining sector have an average gross monthly salary of € 4.351 and in the production of coke and oil refining products € 4.249.

In the field of finance and activities the average monthly salary is € 3.415, in the field of insurance, reinsurance and pension funds except in the field of compulsory social security the average monthly salary is € 2.391. The average monthly earnings for employees in legal and accounting activities are € 2.240, for management consulting activities € 2.816, for scientific research and development € 2.694, for advertising and market research € 2.158.

In the field of information and communication the average monthly salary is € 2.759, in the field of telecommunications € 2.780, in computer programming activities, consulting and related activities € 3.153 and in information services activities € 2.384. The average monthly salary in the field of repair of computers and personal or household goods is € 1.618.

In the field related to human health and social welfare, the average monthly salary is € 1.595. The average monthly salary related to the accommodation and catering services sector is € 1.251. The average monthly salary for the transport and storage sector is € 2.242.

For land and air transport the average monthly earnings are € 1.581, for water transport € 2.473, for air transport € 3.046, for storage and transport support activities it is € 2.529 and for postal and courier activities € 1.408.

In contrast, the lowest paid occupations relate to primary sector occupations such as agriculture. The monthly salaries for professions related to crop and animal production, hunting and related activities, are only € 824 while for forestry € 1087. A little more € 1.105 are received by those involved in service activities in buildings and outdoors and the manufacture of clothing.
